Bio

Martha B. Spraberry, 91, of Oliver Springs, Tenn., passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009. She was born in Calhoun County, Miss., on May 10, 1918, the daughter of Robert Truman and Victoria Taylor Barton. Mrs. Spraberry was a member of Central Baptist Church for 32 years. She participated in the Love Sunday School Class, the Go-Getters and sang in the Jubilant Jubilee Choir. She was a homemaker who loved cooking for family and friends. She also greatly enjoyed flower gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James A. Spraberry; one sister, Nell Bradford; and three brothers, Clifford Barton, Robert T. Barton and Sam W. Barton. She is survived by her two children, Nancy S. Hanna and husband, Joe, of Macon, Ga., and James B. Spraberry of Erwin, Tenn.; one grandchild, Anthony J. Hanna of Charleston, W.Va., and sister, Julia Jones of Jacksonville, Fla. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Glenn Ellis officiating. Graveside services are Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family asks that any memorials be in the form of contributions in her memory to Central Baptist Church, 130 Providence Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The Oak Ridger 8/16/2009
