MRS. CHARLES DUKESHIER Mrs. Charles Dukeshier, who departed this life at the Simons Nursing Home in Shenandoah on Wednesday, January 20, 1960, was the daughter of John and Adeline Swallow, born to them at Chester, Nebraska on March 22, 1885 Thus she laced only two months of being 74 yers of age. While she was yet young, the Swallow family moved to Essex, where she grew to womanhood and on May 28, 1902 united in marriage with Charles Wesley Dukeshier. To them were born six children, Cecil of Essex, Flossie, Mrs. Mark Pursell of Shenandoah, Gertrude, Mrs. Clifford Shum of Omaha, Ernest of Medford, Oregon, Merna, Mrs. Grover Hankins and Clarence both of Shenandoah. There are 14 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. One brother and two sisters survive Mrs. Dukeshier; George of Panorama, California; Mrs. Charles (Flossie) Brown of Omaha, and Mrs. S. D. Franks of Essex. Four brothers preceded her in death; Harry, Alfred, and two infants. Early in life Blanche Swallow accepted Christ as her Saviour and Lord and united with the Christian Church. On January 31, 1924 she united with the Presbyterian Church at Essex, where she remained a member until she joined the Church Triumphant. She was a faithful attendant at Church and a loyal member of the Branches Church school class, often being called upon to teach the class. Branches Class members witness that she was a good Bible student and committed Christian disciple. Four years ago the Dukeshires moved to Shenandoah where two daughters cared for them for a time ad then they became residents of the Simons Nursing Home, where Mr. Dukeshier still resides. For many years, Mrs. Dukeshier was a loyal member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, She hated all kinds of liquor and its devastating effects on the lives ad homes and did not hesitate to take her stand. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, January 23 at 2 p.m. from the Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Clement D. Loehr. Flowers were cared for by Mesdames Marvin Henshaw and Clarence Norton. Ushers were H. R. Fallers and Sam Bengtson. Mrs. Loren Dyke, soloist sang "Beautiful Garden of Prayer" and "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan alone." Mrs. Sam Bengtson was organist. Casket Bearers were Max Carlson, E. H Ennis, Charles Lang, Elmer Samuelson, Clarence Liljedahl, and DeLos Quist. Interment was in Essex Cemetery. Carson Hackett Mortuary had charge of arrangements. Out of town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ruth, Grandview, Montana, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Shut, Kenneth Shut, Mrs. Robert Fulls and Mrs. Charles Brown of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dukeshier, Michael, Steven, and Sheila, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hankins, Mrs. Nancy Thompson, and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pursell, Shenandoah, Mrs. Alfred Elliott Sr., of Red Oak.
