ALFRED WESLEY ELLIOTT Funeral services for Alfred Wesley Elliott were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Essex, Monday, August 7, 1950 at 2:00 p.m. conducted by George Bishop, students pastor. Songs were sung by George Johnson Jr., with Mrs. Verona Bengtson at the piano, Arrangements were made by Carson Mortuary. Alfred Wesley Elliott Sr., was born in Essex, May 10, 1897 and passed away August 4, 1950 at the age of 52 years, 2 months, and 25 days. Mr. Elliott's father passed away 22 years ago and his mother 8 years ago. MR. Elliott is survived by his wife, Josephine and 10 children; Mrs. Glen Allshouse, Douds; Mrs. Harley Foreman and Eldora of Red Oak; Alfred Wesley Jr., and Floyd of Essex; Earl, Floyd, Franklin, Ruth Jane, Martha Ann, and Lawrence Carroll; 6 grandchildren. He leaves three sisters, Mrs. S. D. Franks and Mrs. Charles Dukeshire of Essex and Mrs. M. C. Brown of Omaha and a half b brother, George Swalley of California. Mr. Elliott was an auto mechanic and worked for Willie Hal and Clarence Linn. He had many friends in and around Essex. He went into business for himself in 1940 and had to quit in the fall of 1948 on account of poor health. Casket bearers were Adam Alleshouse, Dean Knox, Ellwood Ennie, Russell Van Duson, Elmer Samuelson, and Clarence Linn. Interment was in the Essex Cemetery. He died August 4, 1950 in Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. He married Josephine Anderson on October 4, 1922 in Clarinda, Page County, Iowa. Children: Betty Jean, Alfred Wesley, Geraldine, Earl, Eldora Mae, Floyd Eugene, Franklin Otto, Ruth Jane, Martha Ann, and Alfred Wesley.
