Son of Emory Newton Gist and Nellie Alma Baldwin. The Bonham Daily Favorite Bonham, Texas Tuesday, 16 May 1944, Page Four Final Rites Held Monday For Savoy War Veteran SAVOY - Robert Baldwin Gist, 22, native of Savoy, died Sunday morning in Carmen veterans' hospital in Dallas, after an illness of about a year. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Savoy Baptist church, conducted by the Rev. Claud Johnston of Sherman and the Rev. Rufus Strickland, pastor of the local church. Interment was in Little Jordan cemetery directed by Earnheart-Strickland. Mr. Gist was born Aug. 2, 1922 at Savoy, a son of E. N. Gist and the late Mrs. Nell Gist both natives of Savoy. He resided here until entering the armed forces about two years ago. he received a medical discharge a year ago and since then had been in a veterans' hospital in Louisiana and spent some time with a sister, Mrs. W.
