The Fremont Tribune The funeral for Betty J. Kiihne, 81, of Scribner will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. She died Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. She was born March 17, 1928, in rural Linwood to Eman T. and Anna (Utstohal) Kovar. At an early age the family moved to a farm near Schuyler and she attended Colfax County Rural School District 17. She helped area farm families prior to moving to Columbus with her sister and working at the Columbus Hospital. She married Gus Kiihne on May 9, 1982, in Hooper. She had worked in the laundry department at Hooper Care Center. She was currently residing at Good Samaritan Center in Scribner. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. Survivors include: a stepson, Ray (and wife, Margaret) Kiihne of Winona, Minn.; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dorothy Kiihne of Omaha; a brother, Emanuel Kovar of Fremont; 14 stepgrandchildren, 27 stepgreat-grandchildren and six stepgreat-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, a stepson and a stepdaughter-in-law. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooper. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
