"Emanuel “Tom” T. Kovar Jr., 82 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Premier Estates in Fremont. Emanuel was born April 22, 1934 to Eman and Anna (Ustohal) Kovar at Linwood, NE. He grew up on a farm near Schuyler, NE and served in the United States Army from 8/14/1956 to 7/27/1958. After the service, he married Linda Buchholtz on January 10, 1959 in North Bend, NE. The couple resided in Fremont. Emanuel worked at Hormel for 38 ½ years, until his retirement in 1997. He really enjoyed working with plants, so he decided to work for Walmart in the garden center as well as a greeter until his second retirement in 2011. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He loved being outdoors, especially gardening. Listening to polka music and dancing were his other past time hobbies. Emanuel enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and many friends. He always had a smile you could remember. He is survived by his daughters, Diana Thompson and Annette Kovar both of Fremont; and grandson, Dallas Thompson of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; sisters, Ann and Betty; and granddaughter, Cheyenne Thompson. Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Fremont. The Rev. Michael McGregor will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be Wednesday from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20. Memorials may directed to the family."
