She graduated from high school in Dallas and went to North Texas State Teachers College in Denton. World War II interrupted her college career and after the war she met the love of her life, Clyde McHam from Ft. Worth, TX. They were married in Dallas November 25, 1946. In 1947, Clyde was transferred with Rowan Drilling and they moved to Midland, TX. Here they began and raised their family of three children, Kenneth, Stanley and Martha. Fredna's life was her family, and after 20 years staying home to raise her children, Fredna went to work for her dearest friend and was the bookkeeper at Mildred's Flowers for over 35 years until she retired in 2002. She was involved in church and community work. Fredna and Clyde were charter members of Memorial Christian Church, actively helping start the Church in 1953. Fredna served on the Church board and Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of Santa Rita Auxiliary of the Petroleum Museum. After raising her children and raising her grandson Eric, Fredna was able to travel with friends and relatives, including many trips to Europe, Canada and all around the United States. Fredna was preceded in death by her husband Clyde, in 1964 and her son Kenneth in 1977. Fredna is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Martha McHam and her husband Jim Sarandrea of Midland, her son Stan McHam and his wife Gail, of Austin, TX. Her 4 grandchildren, Kenneth's son Eric McHam, Martha's daughters Duryn Sandberg and Marcy Sandberg and Marcy's boyfriend Jeff Neely, all of Midland. Stan and Gail's daughter Michelle McHam of Denver, CO. Fredna got to enjoy being the great grandmother to one great grandchild Duryn's son Wyatt Sandberg. She is also survived by her only sister Dorothy Hendrick of Tow, TX and her niece Lynda Hendrick of Seguin, TX, and many nieces and nephews from Clyde's family. Fredna's choices for Donations would include Memorial Christian Church, Midland Association for Retarded Citizens, Manor Park Charities, Hospice of Midland, and Parkinson's Disease Research.
