Joseph Beier Last Saturday morning at 11:35 o'clock, Joseph Beier died at his home here. He was taken fatally ill but a few hours before the end came from weakness of the heart and remained unconscious until his death. Mr. Beier was born in the Rhineland, Germany, and was 89 years old last February. He came to America and was married to the surviving widow in Michigan, later locating in Nebraska, first living in Clay county, then buying an 80 southeast of Lawrence. here they resided for a number of years, or until 17 years ago when they bought a home in Lawrence and came here where they resided since, enjoying a quiet home life until the end; for some years part of their grand-children made their home with them while they attended school here. The widow and one daughter survive; a son born many years ago died at the age 1 ½ years. Four grand-children also survive. Mr. Beier was a quiet, genial citizen highly respected by his neighbors as a man who loved the good and the true. Ever willing to extend a favor to a friend he passes from this life leaving many who will remember him in high esteem and sincere friendship. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church at 9:30 last Monday morning conducted by the Rev. Father Skoupa of Deweese. Burial in Sacred Heart cemetery.
