Mrs. Rose Bartunek, 78, who is well known in this community, passed away at the hospital in Palmer Monday. She had been ill for some time. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the McIntyre-Jacobsen Fuenral Home in St. Paul with the Rev. Kenneth Garrison officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul. Mrs. Bartunek was born near St. Paul on January 30, 1878, the daughter of Katherine and Mike Suchanek and passed away February 27, 1956 at Palmer, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Louis Bartunek in 1896. She was a longtime resident of the Wolbach community and for the past year had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Arnold Berggren of St. Paul. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Edward Kolar of Wolbach, Mrs. Lydia Smith of Grand Island and Mrs. Arnold Berggren of St. Paul; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Schoonover, Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Anna Cullen, Alliance; a brother, Robert Suchanek of St. Libory; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
