Bio
Arvenia Preston was born on December 26, 1891 and died at the age of 2 years, 8 months and 2 days on August 28, 1894. She was buried in the Wilson Cemetery near Ready, Grayson County, Kentucky. Her cemetery record lists her as the daughter of John S. Preston and Nancy F. Houchin after the records of several of their other children who died young. VPB Supposition: I believe, however, that it is possible that this Arvenia Preston was the daughter of John and Nancy's oldest son William Riley Preston and his wife Arvenia Jane Montgomery, who were married in Grayson County, Kentucky on February 2, 1889 by Rev. Isaac Malin Washburn. Nancy Huchin Preston would have been 44 years, 2 months and 13 days old when little Arvenia Preston was born. It would be unlikely that she was the mother of little Arvenia. Arvenia Jane (Montgomery) Cockerel - Preston would have been 31 years, 5 months and 26 days old when little Arvenia Preston was born. She is more than likely her mother. William Riley Preston died at the age of 28 years, 1 month and 17 days on July 16, 1894 - one month and 12 days before the death of little Arvenia Preston. Further research is needed to verify her actual parentage.
