Velma Lee {Waters} Thames February 17,1940 - August 4, 2020 Velma Lee Thames , age 80, a resident of Elsanor, AL passed away August 4 at her home and entered into eternal peace. Velma, know as “Meme” , had a caring heart. She took in & helped many during their times of hardship. She loved getting together for fish fries & cookouts with her family & friends. She loved shopping & fishing. She was employed with Farm Fresh Meats in Robertsdale for 19 years and later retired from Goodrich Areospace, Foley, Al. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Billy” Thames of 29 years, parents, Everett & Willie Lee Waters, one sister, Paulette Comstock. four brothers, Buford, Freddie, Gary, & Larry Eugene Waters. She is survived by four brothers, Eddie {Glenda} Waters, Winston {Linda} Waters, DeWitt {Charlene} Waters, Buddy {Patti} Waters. Four sisters, Jeanette Meader , Jeniece {Joe} Bouzan, Linda {Leon} Johnson, & Carolyn {Greg} McNeil , one sister-in-law Sarah Waters and 27 nieces & nephews. Pallbearers: Buddy Waters, Greg Waters, Wayne Waters, Ricky Comstock, Larry Waters & Artie Hinote. Honorary Pallbearers: Winston Waters, DeWitt Waters, Victor Waters, & Bruce Waters. Graveside service will be held Friday, August 7th, 10 am. at New Cooper Cemetery, Rosinton, AL With Pastor Joe Aldrete officiating.
