Bio
Ola O'Dell, 94, Brookfield, died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998 at Pershing Memorial Hospital. Ola was born May 5, 1904, in Mark, Iowa, daughter of Jhilson and Nancy Jane (Spurgeon) Collier. She married John O'Dell in 1923. He preceded her in death in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of Park Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters and four sons-in-law, Lorraine Sanders, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Alice and Bennie Hull, Meadville, Frances and Donald Smart, San Diego, California, Marge and James Engelhard, Kirksville, and Carol and Junior Kearns, Brookfield; two sons, James O'Dell, Brookfield, and Ernest D. O'Dell, Naperville, Illinois; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beulah Brammer, Stanton, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Arlene Fox; one grandson, Thomas Hull; two sisters; and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 1998 at Park Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Kelley and Dr. B.D. Howell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today, August 17, 1998, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening. Memorials to the church children's department may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
