R. L. Stevens, age 92 of Belvidere, died on Friday, July 17, 2009, at his residence. He was born Wednesday, September 27, 1916 in Franklin County; the son of the late Robert Ross and Martha Haas Stephens. He was employed by Railroad. He is preceded in death by his son, Cordell Stephens, brothers, Earl, Mannie and Milford Stephens, and sisters, Ethel Stephens and Ada Miller. He is survived by his wife, Daisy Stevens, son, Fred (Erlene) Stephens of Winchester, TN, daughters, Mary Frances (Jerry) Stewart of Decherd, TN and Joyce (Raymond) Steele of Belvidere, TN, brother, Morton Stephens of Belvidere, TN, sisters, Stella Burrows and Carrie Kelly as well as his daughter-in -law, Alma Stephens of Winchester, former daughter-in law, Shirley Stephens of Winchester, step-sons, Robert Sanders of Winchester, Sherrill (Gail Sanders of Winchester, Steve (Donna) Sanders of Belvidere, Jimmy (Connie) Sanders of Winchester, and Billy (Carol) Sanders of Belvidere, step-daughter, Joyce (Rayburn) Steele of Belvidere, 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. A Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Rev. Thornton Bell and Rev. Harold Steele officiating. Interment will be in Green Cemetery, Belvidere, TN. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Winchester, Tennessee.
