Portrait & Biographical Record of Buchanan and Clinton Counties Missouri Biographical Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens, Together with Biographies and Portraits of all the Presidents of the United States Chicago, Chapman Brothers, 1893, Pg 496: ... Joniah W. Gardner['s] ... wife before her marriage was Miss Catherine Watson, whose family history appears in the record of Elijah Watson in another portion of this volume. She was a lovable Christian character, a devoted wife and faithful mother, and had a host of friends whom she had drawn to her by her lovable qualities. At the age of sixty-six year she passed to the better land to receive the reward which was surely awaiting here after the years she had spent in the Master's vineyard. Her death occurred October 18, 1884, and her memory is still cherished in the hearts of all who had the good fortune to know her.
