Bio

The Nuckolls County Herald (Nelson, NE), Friday, October 2, 1908; pg. 1 Marriage License. George H. Rempe, 23, of Mt. Clare, and Anna Schutte, age 17, of Lawrence. License issued Oct. 1. ======================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, October 23, 1958; pg. 4 Mr. George Rempe and Miss Anna Schutte two of St. Stephens prominent young people were married at church Tuesday Oct. 20, Rev. Father Hahn officiating. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schutte, and in the evening the young folks enjoyed a dance given by the groom. ===================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Friday, May 13, 1910; pg. 1 Geo. Rempe Accidentally Killed About 9:30 o'clock Thursday (yesterday) morning George Rempe stepped from the door of his home carrying a double-barrel (hammer) shotgun when in some manner not yet clearly explained the hammer caught sufficiently to raise it and the charge of the gun struck him below the right eye, producing death within two or three minutes. With his brother, Joe, they had a team hitched at the farm (6 miles south 3 miles east of Lawrence) and were about to start for a load of hay when George remarked about some coyottes (sic) that were usually seen near the hay ground, and went to the house, got the gun, and just as the screen closed behind him in coming out, the discharge was heard. It is believed his foot caught on the door step and threw him in such manner as to cause the terrible accident. Deceased was about tweney(six)-four years of age, and leaves a grief-stricken wife to mourn untimely death. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Rempe, who with the family and large circle of relatives are plunged into the deepest sorrow at the sudden and appalling manner of his death. George was a most estimable young man standing in the highest esteem and respect of all throughout this vicinity.
