The St. Paul Republican. St Paul, Howard Co, Nebraska, Thursday, December 12, 1918, front page article: "Flu" Claims Many Victims. Word was received here early Wednesday morning bringing the sad news of the death of Mrs. Peter Larsen, who with her husband, lived on a farm one half mile south of Farwell, which occurred Tuesday night from pneumonia. The deceased had been ill from influenza for about a week and apparently was recovering slowly when that grim reaper - pneumonia - developed. She was the youngest daughter of the late John Irvine whose death occurred in this city about two months ago. The family had made arrangements to retire from active farm labor and had an auction sale billed for last Monday, which was postponed by the illness. They had planned to make their home in Farwell after next March, but death steps in and spoils their plans by removing the one for whom the plans were especially designed. Beside the bereaved husband, one sister, Mrs. Albert (Isabelle) Obermiller, survive the untimely death of this young woman. obit courtesy of Pat M (#46936266)
