Bio
It was on December 7,1890, that Franz came to the United States with his family.To settled in a town name Westphalia, Iowa. From there they moved to a town called Lindsay, Texas that was about 1895. The town was founded in 1891. In 1892 the town had about thirty-five families only lived there. Franz went to work on the railroad. He worked with a section gang on the railroad making about $1.00 a day, and walked about three miles to work each day morning and evening. They were the parents of twelve children. Seven of their children were born in Germany. Franz died December 10,1939 and Marie died July 7,1923. Both are buried in Lindsay Cemetery in Texas. Franz had about 1000 acres in North Lindsay - Wolf Ridge. He shared this land with his 9 children. Some took the equivalent of the land in money when they married. They got about 100 acres each.
