She married Herbert Liles, 1 April 1920, Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska. He was born 9 April 1896 according to his World War I draft registration but social security records say he was born 9 April 1897 and died 14 March 1963, in Custer County, Nebraska. In 1930 they were living in Custer County, Nebraska and listed as Herbert Liles, 33, head, married at 21, born Missouri; Gertrude L., 34, wife, married at 22, born Nebraska; Doris V., 9; Georgia M., 8; Eva L., 6; Robert Liles 4; Jack, 3; and Mary A. 1 2/12. Obituary: Luella Gertrude Liles was born on April 1, 1896 at Callaway, Nebraska to Lewis McCreary and Julia McCreary, and she passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 1986 in Broken Bow, in Custer County, Nebraska, at the age of 90 years, five months and eight days. She was married on April 1, 1920 to Herbert Liles at Kearney, Nebraska. She attended Normal Training at college at Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebraska. She taught rural schools at the Custer, Sunnyside, Highland, Meyers and Sand Valley schools. She holds a life-time membership in the United Methodist Church in Callaway, Nebraska. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, by her parents, and by three brothers and five sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing eleven children, who are Doris Scott of Colorado, Georgia Lindgren of Minnesota, Eva Lou Ellison in Washington, Bob Liles in Colorado, Jack Liles in Florida, Mary Gray in Lexington, Margaret Chrisman in California, Sandra Taylor in Grand Island, and Pat Porter in Broken Bow, Nebraska; and by twenty grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and by two great-great-grandchildren and others. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. The Callaway Courier, 18 September 1986.
