JANE MCCREARY, was born 27 February 1882, Bedford, Iowa, to Lewis McCreary and Julia Lyons and died 23 July 1943, Hastings, Nebraska and is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Custer County. She married Hiram A. Dickson about 15 August 1917, Custer County. He was born 8 December 1874, Missouri and died 28 February 1929, Callaway, Custer County, Nebraska. He had a son Robert H. Dickson born about 1908 from a previous marriage. In 1920 the family was living in Delight, Custer County, Nebraska, and was listed as Hiram A. Dickson, 45, married, born Missouri, salesman for implement shop; Jane, 37, born Iowa; and Robert H. Dickson, 12, Nebraska. By 1930 Jane was widowed and living in Callaway, Custer County and listed as Jane Dickson, 48, widowed, no occupation. A local history book states: Jane (McCreary) Dickson was born at Bedford, Iowa on February 27, 1882. She came to Sand Valley, Custer County in 1883. She was married to H. A. Dickson, who died February 28, 1929. She lived for many years where Esther and Emery Walker live at the present time and high school girls would board and room with her while attending high school. She died July 23, 1943. Obituary: Jane McCreary Dickson was born at Bedford, Iowa, February 27, 1882. In August of 1917 she was married at Callaway, Nebraska to H. A. Dickson, who has preceded her in death. As a child and young girl her spiritual life was centered around the Methodist church and later she became a member of the Episcopal church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Dickson lived at Callaway, Nebraska most of her lifetime, and passed on to her eternal home on July 23, 1943, at Hastings, Nebr. She is survived by her aged mother, five sisters, three brothers, and many friends… Custer County newspaper
