Eleanor Loraine Newman, 91, of Terre Haute died at 9:39 a.m. June 9, 2009. Born in Humboldt, Ill., on June 26, 1917, she was the daughter of Merle Guy and Blanche Alice (Pennell) Bolin. She married Robert H. Newman on June 6, 1936, and he preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1981. She is survived by three children, Leathia B. Newman of Terre Haute, Charlotte Hall and husband Ralph of Cape Charles, Va., and Nancy Harralson and husband Richard of Lake George, Colo.; one daughter-in-law, Alexandra Newman of Chesterton; two sisters, Naomi Conner and husband Clarence of Tuscola, Ill., and Bernadine Hopkins and husband Russell of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Alexa Newman of Crystal Lake, Ill., Mark Newman of Greenwood, Ill., Ralph Hall of Manassas, Va., Allen Harralson of Riverside, Calif., Christina Trembley and Edward Harralson of Santa Rosa, Calif., and William Harralson of Lake George; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, H. Anthony (Tony) Newman; a sister, Mildred Sweeney; and three brothers, Donald, Horace and Maurice. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Breden Memorial United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Funeral services are in DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 1 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Visitation is Monday from 11 a.m. until services. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. CDT Monday in Humboldt Township Cemetery, Humboldt, IL.
