Eugene Joseph Maly 68, Lincoln, died Tuesday (6/9/09) at home with his family. Eugene was born on February 8, 1941 in West Point, Neb. to William & Elizabeth (Ortmeier) Maly. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, member of Knights of Columbus & the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Parish, where he ushered for 25 years. Eugene is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jenny Uhing Maly; children (spouses): Mary (Jon) Bargen, Lincoln; Cathy (Pat) Mertens, Hastings; Bill (Susie) Maly, Denver, Colo.; Jodi (Ron) Broughton, Omaha; 13 grandchildren: Brent & Molly Milow; Dan & Alicia Bargen; A.J. & Denise Mertens; Mike, Jake & Ellie Mertens; Jack, Charlie & Ben Maly; Stephanie, Sarah & Megan Broughton; first great-grandson due in September; siblings (spouses): Rita (Bill) Goeden and Vince (Elaine) Maly; West Point, Neb.; Elise (Don) Bartek, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Esther (Tom) Compton, Pueblo, Colo.; Edie (Barry) Barlow, Oregon; Pat (Donna) Maly, Lincoln; and Aggie (Al) Evert, Las Vegas, Nev. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Zita Maly. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Saturday (6/13/09) at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln with Monsignor Robert Tucker officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Lincoln. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday (6/12/09) at Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
