Funeral services for Malcolm Johnson, 77, of Rosepine were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 in the Hixson Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Hardy Estes officiated. Burial followed in Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens. Mr. Johnson passed away Thursday, March 1, in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. He was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Gunners Mate. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Eula Johnson; brothers, Hollis and Almon "Pookie" Johnson and sisters, Fay Flurry and Vera Huggins. Mr. Johnson passed away Thursday, March 1, in the Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder. Mr. Johnson was a native of the Johnsonville/ Vernon Parish area, and was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Gunners Mate, having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also attended the Johnsonville Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Eula Johnson; brothers, Hollis and Almon "Pookie" Johnson and sisters, Fay Flurry and Vera Huggins. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Sam Flurry of Leesville and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
