*** Please note the following obituary as well as the 1920 census gives Wisconsin as the place of birth. But I found the Census of 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1910 and his Marriage License show Illinois as Edward's place of birth. Edward R. Goff, Grand Island resident for thirty-five years, died suddenly at his home, 803 West 8th Street, about 10:30 a.m. Monday, of cerebral embolism. Though he had been failing in health for the past year, he was able to continue at his work as a carpenter until a few days ago. On Friday last his condition took a more serious turn. Monday morning the attending physician had advised his removal to a hospital and while discussing the matter he was suddenly stricken with embolism and died almost instantly. Born in Wisconsin, May 5, 1866, he was aged 60 years, 11 months and 20 days. He came to Nebraska in 1892 and in 1893 was united in marriage in this city, with Miss Mary Goodwin, of Dannebrog. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Edna Summers and Mrs. Agnes Crick, of this city; Mrs. Eva Hinz, of Red Cloud; and Miss Celia, who died in 1918. For a number of years, Mr. Goff was employed as foreman of the bridge crew for the Union Pacific railroad. Later, he served for six years on the local police force, and more recently had been engaged at carpenter work. In 1922 at Osceola, he married Mrs. Florence Glur, who survives him. He is also survived by his former wife and three daughters; his aged mother, Mrs. Emma Goff, who resides at his home; one brother, George W. Goff, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one grandson and one granddaughter. The Grand Island Daily Independent Monday, 25 April 1927 Page 7 Marriage to Mary Goodwin was 02 Dec 1893 in Grand Island, Hall Co., Nebraska, USA
