Bio

Wife of Herbert A. Carter Services for Mary Virginia Carter, 60, were officiated by Rev. W.A. Appling, pastor of St. John's Methodist Church. Mary Virgina Melson married H.A. "Nick" Carter on 16 June 1921. The couple moved to Stamford immediatley after their marriage. Mrs. Carter was active in Women's Civic activities, charter member of Stamford Garden Club, past president of the Stamford Music Club. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church singing in the choir as a soloist. She was active in the PTA and social clubs. Survived by her husband; one son - Allen Carter, Jr.; three grandchildren; her mother - Mrs. C.W. Melson of Dallas; one sister - Miss Addie Melson of Dallas; one brother-in-law - John C. Carter of Jennings, LA. Kinney Funeral Home Book 1952-1955, page 215 Obituary provided by Dorman Holub Death certificate shows daughter of L.P. Melson. That contradicts the funeral home record and obituary.
