Herbert Allen Carter was a retired wholesale produce salesman. He traveled the area for 20 years for Ben E. Keith of Abilene. He retired in 1955. Before he went to work with Ben E. Keith, he owned / operated a produce business in Stamford. He grew up in Louisiana. Herbert Allen Carter was a veteran of World War I. He entered the military on 27 May 1918 at Camp Cody, New Mexico and was discharged on 15 October 1919 at Camp Pike, Arkansas. contributed by Dorman Holub - March, 2015
