Obituary published in Claiborne Parish Trails (1996, No.2) from an undated newspaper clipping found in the estate of Kermit Knighton of Gibsland in 1975: A. J. Colbert, died at his home in Mt. Lebanon, La. at eleven o’clock in the morning from a heart attack while engaged in tasks about the yard. "Uncle Jack" was 76 years of age and had spent the greater part of his life in this section, being one of the six brothers who were closely identified with the history of Mt. Lebanon and Gibsland, La. Funeral services were held at the Mt. Lebanon cemetery Tuesday morning at 10: 30 by Rev. J. C. Cox, pastor of the Mt. Lebanon church. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. A. J. Colbert; five daughters, Mrs. Susie Perritt of Sibley, La., Mrs. J. Paul Jones and Miss Willie Colbert of Mt . Lebanon, La., Mrs. Ernest Smith of Minden, La., and Mrs. Lavinia Bland of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Messers. John and Richard Colbert of Mt. Lebanon, La.; two sisters, Mesdames Pots of Abeline, Texas and a brother, Mr. Augustus Colbert of Waco, Texas; several grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews residing in Gibsland, Shreveport, and Monroe, La. and in Hot Springs, Ark.
