Obit: O.S. Griffin Rites Friday O.S. Griffin, a former resident of Kaufman County, passed away in Kaufman early Thursday morning - Christmas Day. He was moved to the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home in Terrell and later, to his home at Rylie to repose until the funeral hour. Services were held from the First Baptist Church in Rylie at 2:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. D.B. Russell officiating. Oston S. Griffin, a native of Mississippi, was born on February 22, 1884. He came to Texas and to Kaufman County as a young man and lived at Kemp and Mabank before moving to Rosser in 1917. He was engaged in farming at Rosser for many years and in 1950 moved to Rylie in Dallas County, where he worked as a painter. Mr. Griffin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rylie. He and Miss Allie Ann Orman were married on July 28, 1904. Seven children were born to the couple, two of whom preceded their father in death. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Allie Ann Griffin of Rylie; four sons, D.E. Griffin of Moultree, Georgia, Vernon Griffin of Rosser, Raymond J. Griffin of Fort Worth, and Jack W. Griffin of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. Odus Campbell of Dallas; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Kate Shelton of Kemp, and other relatives."
