Obit-Gonzales Inquirer Aug. 27, 1948 CPL. Arthur Hunter Rites September 1 Funeral services for Cpl. Arthur W. Hunter, son of Mrs. L. B. Hunter of Luling, formerly of Gonzales, will be held Wednesday, September 1, at 11 a.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National cemetery at San Antonio. Cpl. Hunter was a native of Gonzales county, born November 15, 1919. He spent his childhood here, attending local schools. Mobilized with the National Guard, he was killed on September 9, 1943, at Salerno, Italy. Surviving besides his mother, are four brothers, Marcellos B. Hunter of Fort Worth, and Cecil and J. B. Hunter of Luling; three sisters, Mrs. Joy Hendershot of Prairie Lea, Mrs. Hazel Pitts of Houston, and Mrs. Daisey Muerer of Cuero.
