Sophia Morrison was the daughter of Peter Harry Morrison and Pauline E. Johnson. She married P. Vernon Joy on 18 Aug 1942. She departed this life May 4, 1977 in Callaway, Nebraska. She lived her early years on her parents farm west of Arnold. She attended the Arnold Schools and graduated in 1938. She attended Kearney State Teachers College during the summer and 'aught school for a few years. On August 18, 1942, Phillip Vernon Joy and Sophia Morrison were united in marriage at North Platte, Nebraska. For a while they lived on the farm and worked for Sophia's mother. From there they moved to Lexington where they worked on a farm for two years. In 1946 they moved to a farm 11 miles west of Arnold. They lived there until 1957 when they moved to a farm 5 miles southwest of Arnold. In August, 1975, they bought their present home in Arnold. To Vernon and Sophia Joy were born five children. Sophia leaves to mourn her passing her husband and five children, two sons-in-law, and three granddaughters. Her sons are Calvin Dee and Morris Eugene of Arnold and Larry Joe of Oxnard, California. Her daughters and their husbands are Dean and Doris Swanson of North Platte and Dennis and Carol Wing of Grand Island.
