Bio

Elsie Maughan Belliston, 93, died at her home in Provo, Utah on March 1, 1990 of causes incident to age. Born January 18, 1897 in Hyde Park, Utah to Harrison D. Maughan and Mary Freestone. Educated at Ricks College, USAC, and master's degree from Cornell University. Taught high school at Coalville and Nephi, Utah, then taught at BYU. Married Albert H. Belliston on June 5, 1930 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died on March 10, 1965. Active in Nephi, Utah in the LDS Church and civic organizations and was matron of the Hawaii LDS Temple. Chairman of the American Mother's Committee of Utah. Survived by son, Angus, Provo; seven grandchildren; 18 step-grandchildren; one brother, Hyrum, of Ridgecrest, California; three stepsons, two stepdaughters, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 1990 at 12 noon in the Rock Canyon Ward Chapel, 2445 North 650 East, Provo. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Church, and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Interment: Nephi City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Published in the Deseret News on 3/2/1990.
