Bio

He is the son of Martha Swain and George Cockrell. His death certificate gives DOB as 1861. Both the death certificate and tombstone record an incorrect date of birth as well as location of birth on death certificate. His parents married in 1857 in Rusk County, Texas. The lived in Smith County, Texas in 1860 and reported he was age 2 with a younger sister born in April, 1860. Both children were born in Texas.
