Bio

First marriage to George Cockrell in 1857 in Rusk County, Texas. Together they had three children: Henry Jasper, Nancy Jane and Sarah Ann. George appears to have died around 1865. Martha with three small children married Elias Flanagan in Dec of 1867, also in Rusk County. Together they had five sons: William J., Elias G., D. M., J.O., and R.M. Flanagan. The 1900 and 1910 census showed she was the mother of eight children, four still living in 1900. She died at the home of her grandson, D. E. Flanagan on April 20, 1918.
