Laure Leader Call 20030314 James Ray Strickland, 83, of Laurel, died March 13, 2003, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel with burial in Lake Park Cemetery in Laurel. The Rev. Mike West will officiate. Strickland was retired from the Street Department with the City of Laurel. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired from the National Guard. He was a member of Indian Springs Baptist Church. Strickland is survived by his wife, Eileen Strickland of Laurel; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Strickland of Petal; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda Strickland Reed and James Reed of Ellisville; brother, L. V. Strickland of Ellisville; two sisters, Lorene Shoemake and Mae Lois Buckhaults, both of Ellisville; grandchildren, Steven and Lisa Reed, Brian Reed, Michael Reed, Laura Strickland, Lyndsay Strickland, and Kyle and Haley Headrick; two great-grandchildren, Calder Reed and Emily Reed. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
