Married on May 11, 1898 in Weissert, Custer Co., Nebraska Will Amos, 82, Dies in-route to Sargent. Will Amos, 82, passed away Saturday, April 10, following a stroke suffered a week ago. He was in-route to Sargent with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Looney and baby Sharon Marie when death came to him near St. George, Utah. Mr. Amos had spent several months with the Looney family at their home in Santa Barbara, California. The body, shipped from Utah to Broken Bow, was brought to Sargent by Snooner Mortuary for funeral services and burial. Services were conducted by Rev. C. R. Fitz Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church. "Saved by Grace" and "Ivory Palaces" were sung by Mrs. Grace Kidder and Mrs Bert Amos. Pallbearers were Bert Amos, Noel Amos, Glen Amos, Clive Tobias, George Steinhoff and Clarence Armstrong. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery. (obituary). William Riley Amos, son of John Mordeciah Amos and Catherine Thompson Amos, was bornin Perryville, Ohio, June 23, 1871 and passed away near St. George, Utah, April 10, 1954, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 18 days. While he was still quite young the family moved to Iowa, and later to Nebraska. In the late 80s he met Eva Campbell, and on May 11, 1889 they were married. To this union seven children were born, two of whom died in infancy. Mr. Amos spent many years as a famer, living in the Dry Valley community near Sargent. During that time he was united with the First Christian Church in Sargent. Survivors include three sons, Fenton Amos, Beatrice; Lorne L. Amos, Comstock; Claris C. Amos, Shubert; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Looney, Santa Barbara, California; and Mrs. Bessie Mapel of Lewellen; one brother, Zack Amos of Sargent; one sister, Mrs. Nora Armstrong, Broken Bow; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
