Bio
Services for Dennis R. Boro, 59, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont. Dennis passed away Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2008, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Reviewal will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, May 11, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Dennis Ray Boro was born on July 20, 1948, in Ord, Neb., the son of Syl and Mildred (Moudry) Boro. He grew up in Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1966. He went on to the University of Nebraska and graduated with an economics and finance degree in 1970. Dennis was united in marriage to Maureen Woita on April 7, 1972, in Beatrice, Neb. They moved to Minneapolis, where Dennis attended the University of Minnesota and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in mortuary science in 1974. Dennis and Maureen moved to Fairmont in the summer of 1974, where Dennis worked at Olson Funeral Home as a funeral director and manager until 1998. He worked at Bank Midwest in Fairmont from 1998 to 2000. From January of 2000 until the time of his death, Dennis owned and operated Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Over the years, Dennis was very active in his community. Organizational involvement included: St. John Vianney Catholic Church, founding member of St. John Vianney Catholic School Endowment Fund, Fairmont City Council, Fairmont Exchange Club, Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center Board member and past president, Martin County Hospice Board of Directors, Fairmont Area Foundation, Interlaken Golf Club, Fairmont Medical Center and Mayo Health System Board Member, Treasurer and Board Member of the Minnesota Funeral Directors Association. Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Maureen Boro of Fairmont; son, Matt Boro and his wife, Colleen, of Eagan, Minn.; mother, Mildred Boro of Ord, Neb.; brother, John Boro and his wife, Sandy, of Keizer, Ore.; mother-in-law, Gladyce Lee of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jim and Sandy Bruner of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lyle and Patti Woita of League City, Texas, Don and Janelle McNemar of Gilbert, Ariz., Jim and Wendy Groene of Schuyler, Neb., Gary and Marlyss Forman of Omaha, Neb., Mark and Linda Woita of Omaha, Neb.; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Syl Boro; and his son, Mark Boro.
