Bio

Charles married Eva May Estes 1 July 1886 in Dallas County, Iowa and then again on 25 August 1891 in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. They had at least one daughter, Gertrude "Gertie" McKinley, born 8 July 1888. Eva died of scarlet fever on 10 August 1895 at the age of 26. He later married Lorena Isabelle James on 28 March 1898 in Council Bluffs; this was her first marriage. They divorced on 7 January 1910. Charles Melvin is the eldest son of Charles Franklin and Harriet N. (Cooper) McKinley - both born in Ohio; they are buried in West Linn Cemetery in Linden, Dallas County, IA. Charles' two younger brothers (John Eldon and Franklin Charles) are buried in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Council Bluffs, IA.
