Bio

James Carroll Rosburg, born December 18, 1930, of Charter Oak, Iowa, met death instantly Thursday morning, June 23, 1955 at 9:40 a.m., one-half mile west of Charter Oak on the Milwauqee railroad right-of-way when a D-4 Caterpillar he was operating turned over on an embankment and pinned him underneath. According to Harry Maxwell, County Corner, he died instantly of a crushed back and chest, a broken leg and broken jaw. The only witness to the accident was D.L. Malone of Ute, who was working with him at the time. "Jim" was employed by a construction company of Charter Oak which had been contracted to removed old bridge pilings and timber for the railroad company. The deceased is is survived by his mother, Mrs. Fred Rosburg; 3 brothers: Allen in the Marines, Michael & Herman, both at home. His father, Fred, preceded him in death December 11, 1953. Surviving uncles and aunts are: John and Emma Lorensen of Denison; Rose Marie Rosburg of Oregon; Louis and Rose Lorensen of Buck Grove; Albert, Henry and Loretta Rosburg, and Frank, Herman and Emil Lorensen of Charter Oak. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 27, 1955 at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison at 2 p.m. Interment was made in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Denison, Iowa.
