Bio

Allen LeRoy Rosburg, 85, passed away on June 11, 2020 at Surprise, AZ. He was born to Fred and Adelia (Lorensen) Rosburg in Crawford County, Iowa near Astor on November 10, 1934. Al was raised and educated in the Dow City and Charter Oak, Iowa areas. After high school, he served overseas in the Marines until 1957. He attended General Electric Trade School in Omaha, NE. Al moved to Lincoln where he was a longtime resident and business owner of Merchandise Mart. He retired in 1995. Al married Elaine (Novak) on April 26, 1958 and to this union five children were born Ronald, Kathryn, Kenneth, Cynthia, and Steven. Al and Elaine made their home in Lincoln, NE until they moved to an acreage outside of Denton, NE. Al and Elaine later divorced in November 1998. On February 21, 2004, Al then married Elizabeth "Liz" Magree at Clark, Nevada. Al and Liz later moved to Ajo, AZ where they spent most of their time. Al was always up for an adventure and beloved by his family. His family will no doubt honor him via the retelling of a multitude of stories from the span of his life. He loved to work around the house, and his hobbies were diverse—including travel, bird watching, boating gardening, and aviation. He adored spending time with friends and family all over, including Iowa, Nebraska, Arizona, and Missouri. Al was an active member of the American Legion, Elks Club and the VFW and inspired several grandchildren to also serve in the military. Al was preceded in death by his parents Fred (1953) and Adelia (1992), bothers James (1955) and Michael (2020), stepson John Magree (2019), granddaughter Nicole (Rosburg) Vancura (2016) and great-granddaughter Faith Danczak (2020). He is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Doan) Rosburg, and his children Ronald (Julie) Rosburg, Kathryn (Roger) Harre, Kenneth (Lana) Rosburg, Cindy (Mike) Duane, Steven Rosburg and the children's mother, Elaine J. Rosburg. Also, stepdaughters Kelli (Rob) Paetz, Karin (Kevin) Hindmarsh, Angie (Shaun) Raney as well as Anjeanette Magree; brother Herman (Nancy) Rosburg of Charter Oak, IA and sister-in-law Gloriane Rosburg of Martell, NE. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Al had several grandchildren Brady Vancura, Sarah (Larry) Danczak, Cheryl Benes, Jim Benes and Tim Turnquist, Doug (Tricia) Benes, Katie (Tim) Barber, Tom Benes, A.J. (Kara) Rosburg, Chris Rosburg, Grayson Rosburg, Myah Rosburg, Angel Perkins, Adam (Sarah) Duane, McKale Turner, Jill (John) Gocken, Jared Hindmarsh, Emma Raney, Averi Magree, Adelyn Magree, Jamey Kohlman, Justin Kohlman, and Vicky Thompson. Al also had many great grandchildren: Aubrey, Ashtyn, Josslyn, Hailey, Kingston, Cambria, Caleb, Tyson, Abigail, Kaleb, Kiera, Liam, Orianna, Tabetha, Gideon, Cassie, Katelyn, Kyle, Scarlett, Tyrus, MaLeah, and Nadia. He is also survived by a beloved and spunky Schnauzer, Martha. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Cross The Line Church in Lincoln, NE. Friends and family were welcome. There was plenty of room for social distancing. The Douglass Funeral Home of Ajo, AZ was in charge of the arrangements in Arizona. There will be no inurnment at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lincoln Capital Humane Society – captialhumanesociety.org.
