From the Frankston Citizen April 8, 1993. Services for Lovie G. Ward, 69, Of the Pert Community near Neches were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston, with the Rev. Charles Grasty officiating. Burial was in the Neches Cemetery. Mrs. Ward died Saturday, April 3, in a Palestine hospital following an extended illness. She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Anderson County and lived most of her life in the Pert Community. Mrs. Ward was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, James Lee Ward of Neches; a daughter, Mary Howell of Neches; five brothers, Omar Fletcher of Clute, John Fletcher of Oakland, Daniel Fletcher of Brazoria, Frank Fletcher of Palestine and Arthur Fletcher of Whitehouse; three sisters, Winnie Lusk and Mrs. J. W. (Mary) Wortham, both of Palestine, and Mrs. Herman (Daisy) Chapman of Brazoria; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerry Howell, Shawn Blackwell, Michael Moore, Kevin Kauffman, Melvin Bizzell and Phillip Carter.
