The Columbus Daily Telegram , April 15, 1950 KLUEVER-- Mrs. Mary Kluever Dies Today; Last Rites on Tuesday Mrs. Mary Kluever, 72, died shortly before 8 a.m. today at the Lutheran hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Final rites will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the McKown funeral chapel, followed by burial in the Baptist cemetery at Platte Center. The Rev. Herbert Kyrk, pastor of the Free Church Chapel, will officiate at the services. The body will lie in state at McKown funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday until the funeral. Mrs. Kluever, daughter of Dietrich and Sophie Melahn Brunken, was born Sept. 1, 1877 in Platte county where she lived her entire life. On March 1, 1897 she was married to Herman A. Kluever in the Shell Creek Baptist church, and they resided many years at Platte Center. After her husband's death on June 28, 1920, Mrs. Kluever remained at Platte Center until Feb. 1, 1949 when she moved to Columbus. Survivors include: three sons, Walter and Alfred, Columbus, Heinrich, Platte Center; five daughters, Mrs. Nat (Shirley) Morgan and Mrs. Glenn (Dorothea) Morgan, San Francisco, Mrs. Fred (Alma) Krueger, Mrs. Albert (Clara) Goering, and Mrs. Herman (Mable) Goering, all of Platte Center; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Fred Mihulka, Columbus; two brothers John and Fred Brunken, Columbus; step-mother, Mrs. Theresa Chambers and two half-brothers, Walter Brunken and Roy Nelson, all of Chicago. The Columbus Daily Telegram , April 19, 1950 KLUEVER-- Final Rites - Final rites for Mrs. Mary Kluever, 72, who died Saturday at the Lutheran hospital were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McKown funeral chapel. The Rev. Herbert Kyrk was in charge, and burial was in the Baptist cemetery at Platte Center. Miss Charlotte Messing sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Just As I Am," with Mrs. Ed Messing, accompanist. Pallbearers were: Glen, Ivan and Dean Goering, LeRoy Arlie and Neal Krueger. Relatives and friends attending the services were from Chicago, Cedar Rapids, Overton, Hastings, Schuyler and Glenvil.
