Rose Lorena Gustin, 92 , a longtime Moscow area resident, died May 11 at the Moscow Care Center from respiratory complications. She was born in Forrest, Idaho, July 15, 1905, to Eugene and Olive Pierce Burton. She grew up and attended schools in Viola. She married Ernest Ashley Gustin in Moscow on Feb. 5, 1922. Her husband worked as a farm hand on Mix Farms just south of Moscow and later as a lumberjack. She worked several different jobs in the area, including cooking and housekeeping. She was employed as a Laundromat operator for a number of years at the Moscow Steam Laundry which was owned by her brother. She loved plants and yard work. She also enjoyed writing songs and playing the organ and guitar. She is survived by one son, Louis R. Gustin of Idaho Falls, Idaho; one daughter, Loretta June VanDooren of Tacoma, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 8, 1974; one sister; and four brothers. A graveside service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Moscow Cemetery. Pastor Michael Fisch will officiate.
