Joycie C., age 96 a Garland resident for 33 years passed away March 11, 1998 in Dallas Texas. Ms. Blevins was born July 2, 1901 in Joshua, Texas and was the oldest of eight children. She was a member of the Freeman Heights Baptist Church of Garland, a homemaker and seamstress, and for the past 30 years was a sales representative for Avon. Ms. Blevins was preceded in death by her son, Billy Joe Morrison, in 1947, three brothers & three sisters. Survivors include her sons, Boyd Morrison, of Garland, TX & L. H. Blevins of Rockwall, TX., daughters, Nina McSwain, of Dallas, TX, Martha Tyler of Garland, TX, & Melba Raiden, of Honey Grove, TX; brother, Thel Howard, of Alice, TX; 16 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; and host of other friends and relatives. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 13, 1998, Freeman Heights Baptist Church, 1120 N. Garland Ave., Garland, with Rev. Larry Venable officiating. Interment will be 4:00 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Honey Grove, Texas. Family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Directors, 7:p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday.
