Funeral services for Edgar Cooper, 80, resident of Childress since 1924, were held this afternoon in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe S. Allen, pastor, officiated.Burial was in the Kirkland Cemetery by Newberry Funeral Home.Mr. Cooper died Saturday morning in his home following a heart attack.A retired farmer, he moved to Childress County from Hunt County where he was born. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife, Addie; two daughters, Mrs. G.C. Slaton and Mrs. Bill Slaton of Childress; two sons, M.G. of San Antonio and E.A. of Viet Nam; a half-brother, Offie Cooper of San Antonio; a half-sister, Mrs. Pearl Stanfield of La Pryor; a set-sister, Mrs. Delia Hobbs of Amarillo, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
