Mary Frances "Fanny" (Yoakum) Talburt was the daughter of J. Yoakum. It is thought that her parents were Jacob "James" Yoakum (1768-1845) and his first wife, whom he married about 1793. Jacob was a leader who travelled back and forth between Tennessee and Missouri, and cohabitated with the Delaware Indians in the White River area of Missouri. It is documented that Jacob had returned to the White River area by 1813, where he traded with the Indians to acquire what would become the Yocum Mine near the source of the White River in Stone County. Jacob's son Michael Yoakum (1899-1863) was living in the White River area of Arkansas Territory by 1820 at the time of his marriage to Sarah "Sallie" Coker. He was living in Izard County, Arkansas, during the 1833 Arkansas Census and Marion County, Arkansas, during the 1840 US Census. This is likely the same area where Fanny married, as she settled in Marion County after her marriage. Records do not show any Yoakums other than Michael living in that area at the time of Fanny's marriage or for many years after. Fanny's birth location has been recorded as Kentucky in her marriage record and the 1860 US Census record, and as Arkansas in the 1850 and 1880 US Census records. Fanny married Simeon Wilhoit Talburt about 1821 in northern Arkansas. (One record lists the marriage year as 1823, but their first son John was born in June 1822 according to Simeon's family Bible.) In 1850 the family was living in Big Northfork in Fulton County, Arkansas, in the White River area (This area later became Marion County and then Baxter County). Simeon and Fanny had the following children, according to births recorded in their family Bible: John H. Talburt 1822-1851 Walter C. "Watty" Talburt 1826-1909 Sarah A. Talburt 1827-1843 Simeon H. Talburt 1830-1913 Elizabeth W. "Rebecca" Talburt 1833-1910 Henry Harvey Talburt 1836-1863 Asa F. Talburt 1839-1864 Nancy E. Talburt 1841-(aft. 1860) Thomas Benton Talburt 1843-1899 William James Talburt 1845-1936 James Springer Talburt 1848-1931 Fanny's husband Simeon died in 1852, leaving her with her children living in the Rapp's Barrens area of what would become Mountain Home, Arkansas. By 1880 all of Fanny's children were grown and she was living with her son Simeon H. Talburt (1830-1913) and his children in Mountain Home in Baxter County, Arkansas, after the death of his wife. Fanny died in 1889 at the age of 87. She most likely died where she was living, in Mountain Home (now in Baxter County), and was buried in the Talburt Casey Cemetery in that town.
