Bio

Rufus Sanders, 38, a citizen of this city, residing on East Rusk St, died Sunday afternoon about 4:00 o'clock following fatal injuries that he sustained the day before on a lease of the Texas Company in the local oil field. He was working near a gas engine at the time, it is learned, when his body was caught in the shaft and as a result, he received terrible injuries about the head and abdomen and other parts of the body. He was rushed to the B...[illigible] Hospital where aid was administered. It is stated that several fellow workmen in the field came in Sunday morning when blood transfusion was recommended to give him their blood, but all efforts to prolong life failed and he died in the afternoon, greatly mourned by his dear wife and two fine boys. They have the sincerest sympathy of the entire community. The deceased was in the employee of the Texas Company for nine years. He had made many friends during his residence here who join the grieved in their mourning. He was taken charge of by the Riddle Caretaking Company and the remains conveyed this afternoon to Kacy for interment in the cemetery there.
