Bio

Son of Elias Henderson 1851/1887 --------------------------------------- Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Thursday, 29 April 1909, page 1 TRAIN KILLS SECTION MAN Eastbound Union Pacific train No. 8, the Los Angeles Limited, struck and killed William P. Henderson, a section employe, late Tuesday. Henderson had been at work with the fellow-members of the force when the fast train hove in sight. The men cleared the track but, it appears, forgot to remove the track gauge. Seeing this at the last moment, Henderson rushed to the track to remove it and was struck in the head by the ... death resulting twenty minutes later. The man had succeeded in removing the gauge, but was struck just as he was clearing the track. Henderson went to Shelton from Grand Island. He was a married man but had no family. His mother is said to reside at Loup City and his step grandfather at Cairo. The latter, Mr. McKenzie, was in the city between trains today, to go to Shelton to attend the funeral which will be held tomorrow afternoon. The accident occurred in Buffalo county, the coroner of which found the above facts not to warrant holding an inquest. Contributor: diaNEB (47466150)
