Hattie Jo Davis Reed, 96, of Harriman, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, in The Bridge at Rockwood. A member of Central Church of Christ, Harriman, she was a devoted mother and homemaker who worked in the cafeterias of Walnut Hill Elementary, Harriman, and Harriman Middle School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Reed Sr.; father, Joe Davis; mother, Ellie Davis; and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include stepdaughter, Edith Reed Poole of Tallahassee, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph R. Jr. and Diane Reed of Rockwood and John Davis and Carol Reed of Simpsonville, S.C.; brother, Calvin Davis of Crossville; grandchildren and spouse, Stephanie Wilkerson and Melissa and Clint Johnson, all of Knoxville, Rebekah Reed and Connie Reed, both of Asheville, N.C., John Reed II of Boston and Joseph Robert "Joey" Reed III of Rockwood. Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in Kyker Funeral Home chapel, Harriman, with Minister Charles Brown and the Rev. Clint Johnson officiating. Graveside service and burial were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood. An online register is available at www.kykerfuneralhome.com.
