The Sioux City Journal , February 5, 1976, Page 12. via Newspapers.com Frederick M. Smith Frederick M. Smith, 56, of Rapid City, S.D., a former Sioux City resident, died unexpectedly Jan. 19 at Rapid City. Services and burial were Jan. 21 in Rapid City. Mr. Smith, who was born April 18, 1919 at Egan, S.D., graduated from high school at Flandreau, S.D., and from the University of South Dakota. He was employed by the Burroughs Corp. for 33 years, spending the years 1945 through 1948 in Sioux City with the firm. He moved to Rapid City in 1972 and retired in 1974, later becoming affiliated with Dakota Sports Inc. in Rapid City. He was a Navy pilot during World War II. He married Maxine Waltman Jan. 19, 1974. Survivors include the widow; two daughters, M. Margaret Smith and E. Smith, at home; his father, Roy P. Smith of Flandreau; a sister and three stepchildren.
