Graveside services for Tom Pace Farley, 81, of Lubbock, were at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 31 in Dickens Cemetery. Rev. C. L. Atkinson, pastor of the Afton Baptist Church, officiated. Mr. Farley died about 8:38 a.m. January 29 in the St. Mary of the Plains Hospital, Lubbock, following a brief illness. Born August 14, 1909 in Archer City, he had lived the past 34 years in Lubbock, moving there from Dickens County. He was a retired dirt contractor and farmer. He married Helen Wiley, October 22, 1932 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Helen Farley, Lubbock; a son, Gerald Farley, Midland; one daughter, Lurlene Shobert, Spur; one brother, Bill Farley, Turkey; a sister, Dollie Mae Irby, Turkey, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Pallbearers included Thedford Fry, Harry Martin, Stewart Townsend and Jarol Fanta. Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ©The Texas Spur, February 1991
