Bio

Jesse McCoy "Coy" Bridges was the son of Samuel and Sarah Elizabeth Osborn Bridges. He was born September 15, 1865, presumably after the murder of his father. Jesse was living with his half-brother William Hutson's family in 1880 in Denton County, Texas. In 1882, he moved to Ellensburg with brother Mike Bridges and his half-brother David Hutson's family. He remained in the county and passed away on February 28, 1942 in Toppenish in Kittitas County, Washington. He is buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg. Family members do not think that he ever married. Obituary: Ellensburg Daily Record, 2-28-1942. COY BRIDGES, 75, DIES IN TOPPENISH. Coy Bridges, 75,, former Ellensburg resident and brother of the late Mike Bridges, of Ellensburg died at his hoe in Toppenish this morning, according ot word received by relatives here. Graveside funeral services will be held at the I.O.O.F. cemetery here Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following services at Toppenish at 11 a.m. Bridges came here with his family in 1882 and resided here until 1902, when he moved to Toppenish. Survivors include four nieces Mrs. John Wheaton and Mrs. R. M. Kinkade, of Ellensburg, Mrs. F. A. Collins, of Seattle, and Mrs. Jack Roberts, of Oakland. Mike Bridges was fatally injured in an accident at Oakland last fall.
